Books from the general collection are checked out and returned at the circulation desk. Normally, the student loan period on a book is 30 days unless the book is recalled. Books and articles held on reserve are circulated for a limited time period and will accrue substantial fines if returned late. Most library material may be renewed in person or one time only through the online catalogue. Queries regarding holds or missing books are handled at the circulation desk. See the loan period chart and borrowing policy for further information.

ID card

ID cards are made and validated with a barcode number at the time of registration. Students who have missed getting a student card during registration should bring a confirmation of registration or the receipt for the registration fees to Student Central, first floor, Rice Centre, 489 Portage Ave.

The barcode number is used when you place a hold on a book, view your patron record, or connect to one of the remote databases from home. This should not be confused with your PIN, which is of your own choosing and is only 4-8 characters in length and used to access electronic course reserves and your patron record.
