Platform Migration Update - ebrary and EBL Moving to Ebook Central

Thu. Jun. 29, 2017

Our Ebook Central migration has occurred. For the time being you will need to log into the proxy even on-campus to access ebrary/Ebook Central titles. We are working on getting this turned off while on-campus. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience.

On June 27th, ebrary and EBL resources will be migrating to a new platform becoming Ebook Central [ProQuest]. There should be minimal disruption in service, but please be patient if glitches appear during this time of transition.

All accounts and personal bookshelves from EBL will not be migrated, we apologize in advance for any incovinence this may cause.

However, all accounts and personal bookshelves from ebrary will be migrated to the new Ebook Central [ProQuest].

The first time you use Ebook Central after the migration a pop-up box will appear, asking you to move your account. If you would like to retain your information please say "yes", otherwise your account and/or bookshelf will no longer be available to you. If you do not say yes and discover later you would like it, please email ebooksupport@proquest.com identifying that you are from the University of Winnipeg, and they will move it over for you.

Your account & bookshelf will look different on the new platform, but will have the same capabilities. You should only notice slight differences in the new interface of Ebook Central [ProQuest], most of the changes will be occurring in the administration interface.

Some new features/capabilities will be:

  • a cleaner look & feel
  • increased printing allowance
  • increased copying allowance
  • downloading will still be the same and Adobe Digital Editions will still be used, but both PDF and EPUB version will be available for some material (determined by the publisher).

For a sneak peak at the new platform see the ProQuest LibGuide at http://proquest.libguides.com/ebookcentral/home.
