Open Access Week 2017

Mon. Oct. 23, 2017

To recognize Open Access Week 2017, the University of Winnipeg Library is hosting two events that we hope you will join us for!

Wednesday, October 25, 2017, 12:30 - 1:30 – Room 3M71 – Finding Open Access Scholarly Articles - For Community Researchers - This workshop will focus on ways non-University affiliated community researchers can still access excellent scholarly articles and research, so they don't have to beg, steal, or borrow to get the evidence they need!  Focusing on finding scholarly research in trustworthy Open Access repositories, and expanding search strategies, this workshop will also be helpful for researchers and students as well.

Friday, October 27, 2017, 12:30 - 1:30 - Library 5th Floor Atrium – ResearchGateGate: Finding the right repository for your research - While popular repositories such as ResearchGate and SciHub have greatly expanded many academics' use of Open Access repositories, recent attempts to crack down on them from publishers shows the necessity of long term preservation and access to research results.  Learn about other options, including how WinnSpace, the UofW Institutional Repository, can provide you with a legal and long term solution for your research results.
