Status of Library Services

All in-person library services have been moved to alternate delivery and the physical library facility is now closed. Access to digital resources remains unaffected, and staff are working remotely to deliver most services online. Below is the current status of Library services, as well as links where you can find more information. For general campus  or health-related  information, please check the University’s COVID-19 Update Page for regular updates.

✅  Archives
Consultations are available remotely; contact the Archives for assistance.

Collections & Acquisitions
For purchases and digital alternatives to print material, contact your liaison librarian or visit our COVID-19 resources page

⚠️ Print Borrowing & Interlibrary Loans
Access to print materials is unavailable. Users  do not need to return books – including ILL material – or renew their materials while service is suspended. Questions can be directed to circulation@uwinnipeg.ca or 204.786.9808.

  • All books due after March 1 st will be automatically extended until September 15, 2020; all recalls have been disabled until further notice.
  • All interlibrary loans of print material have been suspended.
  • Digital interlibrary loan service is available. Vist the interlibrary loan page for more information.

✅  Research Help
Library staff will continue to provide Reference and Instruction Services during the Library closure.

  • Reference Inquiries can be made remotely over the Library's Help Chat service.
  • Research consultation appointments may still be booked with a Subject Librarian, although the consultations will take place by email or virtual chat. Students and Researchers wishing to book an appointment may do so here:  https://uwinnipeg.ca.libcal.com/appointments/
  • Instructors requiring students to access library resources during the remainder of the Winter term are encouraged to contact their  Subject Librarian to ensure continuity of access to these resources during the library closure or to explore alternatives.

⚠️ Reserves
Staff are able to offer full support for digital materials; physical reserves are inaccessible. Contact reserves staff for more assistance.
