SYLLABUS SERVICE & COURSE RESERVES
Although the library is currently closed, staff are working from home to continue supporting electronic course reserves, and the Syllabus Service remains available for Spring and Summer courses. Save time and ensure your students have access to their required readings by sending your reading list to syllabus-service@uwinnipeg.ca. Staff will:
- Find digital versions of your required readings through the library catalogue, open access, or interlibrary loan where available;
- Upload readings to the ReserveReadings tab of your Nexus course;
- Ensure all materials comply with the University’s Copyright Policy;
- Edit provided scans to ensure they meet accessibility standards;
- Connect you with your subject librarian to purchase or find alternatives to readings not currently available through the library or open access.
The Syllabus Service can also help you reuse reserve materials from previously taught courses. Faculty and instructors not using Nexus can still use the Syllabus Service and access their items through the Ares Course Reserves System. While staff unfortunately do not have access to print materials or scanners, they can still edit and upload instructor-provided scans. You can use phone apps like Genius Scan or Adobe Scan to create PDF excerpts of your personal copies and send them to the Syllabus Service to be uploaded, though please be aware of any privacy implications of the tools you are using.
