Pride Week at the Library
Wed. May. 15, 2024
Celebrate 2024 Pride with us from May 16 to June 2.
We encourage you to explore 2SLGBTQIA+ media in all their forms. There are plenty of ways you can do so at the library:
Join us for a Queer Media Show and Tell on May 28.
Come and share your favourite queer books, movies, music or artwork with other passionate people. The event will take place from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the Quad (or in the library in the event of bad weather). Enjoy this time of discussion and exchange over a delicious snack.
If you need help finding media, don’t hesitate to contact reference@uwinnipeg.ca. Our librarians will be happy to help!
Attend the Pride Week Film Screening on May 29.
Join us at 4:00 p.m. in Convocation Hall for a screening of Noam Gonick’s selected works. From a position of queer anarchy, filmmaker/artist Noam Gonick has explored sexuality using Winnipeg as a muse. For Pride 2024, we present recent and rarely-seen short films designed to delight, disrupt, and provoke. A panel and a reception with the filmmaker will follow the screening.
Discover the Two-Spirit Archives.
This special collection was established in 2019 to recognize, centre, document and preserve the legacy of Two-Spirit, Indigiqueer and Indigenous LGBTQIA+ people. It will be on display until the end of the month in the Archives (5th floor of the library).
Check out our resources on Queer Movements.
Borrow a book from our beautiful Pride Month display, read an eBook or watch one of the videos from the following list to learn more about queer political, social, and artistic movements.
