“Ready, Set, Go” are practical workshops to help you with the academic research process. You will explore the library collections, learn how to construct thoughtful searches, discover new databases that will help you in your studies, and much more.
This Fall, our 9 workshops are all held online and registration is required to participate. Join us for one session or more to level up your research skills!
Fall Term schedule
- Introduction to the Library (September 11, 12:30 - 1:00 p.m.): Join this first workshop to learn more about the library collections and services, plus some useful tips for finding and using academic information.
- Library Databases (September 19, 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.): Discover more about the library databases, what types of information sources are in these great collections and how to find them.
- Search Strategies (September 26, 10:30 - 11:00 a.m.): Learn how to construct thoughtful searches so that you can find those 3-5 academic sources your professor is asking for.
- Finding Credible Sources (October 2, 12:30 - 1:00 p.m.): Join our librarian to discuss evaluating sources so you can be sure the information you're using is credible.
- Searching Google Scholar (October 9, 12:30 - 1:00 p.m.): Discover the most useful features of Google Scholar, one of the most popular academic search engines.
- Searching ERIC (October 23, 12:30 - 1:00 p.m.): Join us for a demonstration of some of the most useful features of ERIC, a database frequently used by students and researchers in Education.
- Searching Web of Science (October 29, 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.): Learn how to use Web of Science, an excellent database for exploring the academic literature across disciplines.
- Searching America: History and Life (November 6, 12:30 - 1:00 p.m.): Discover how to use the America: History and Life. This database has a large collection of academic resources about the history of North America.
- Searching PsycInfo (November 14, 1:00 - 1:30 p.m.): Join us for an in-depth demonstration of PsycInfo, a database frequently used by students and researchers in Psychology.
