Pride Week 2025

Wed. May. 7, 2025

UW Pride Week. May 25 to June 3.

Celebrate Pride Week at the Library

Pride Week is coming on May 26, and we can’t wait to celebrate it with you! At the Library you can learn more about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and express your voice and creativity by participating in one of our events.

2SLGBTQIA+ Resources

The Library and Archives are great places to start learning more about 2SLGBTQIA+ history. This month, we encourage you to:

  • Check out our research guide on Queer Studies. This guide will help you in your research by providing access to a range of resources, and introducing key concepts and important scholars.
  • Consult the Two-Spirit Archives to learn about the Indigenous Two-Spirit movement in Manitoba and throughout North America.
  • Find the records of the Transgender Oral History project at the Oral History Centre Archives to gain a richer understanding of the lives and work of transgender individuals in Manitoba.

Zine Workshop

Enjoy a relaxing break in a friendly space and let your creativity shine by making your own zine with the help of Natalie Mark, a Queer Chinese-Canadian artist. All materials will be provided, and sweet snacks and coffee will be available!

The workshop runs on Tuesday, May 27 and Thursday, May 29, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. each day. You’re welcome to join one or both sessions. This is a flexible, come-and-go format. You are free to arrive and leave whenever you like as long as you register for the event. We encourage you to stay for the full session to have sufficient time to work on your zine.

Register for session 1  Register for session 2
*If you wish to attend both sessions, please sign up for both.

This event is made possible thanks to the support of the Women's and Gender Studies Department and the Office of the Provost and Vice-President, Academic.

Drag Storytime

The Library, the UWSA, and the Rainbow Lounge invite you to a special Drag Storytime on June 3, at 12:30 p.m. in Bernice’s Reading Room.

Come with family and friends for an enchanted break, and enjoy joyful, captivating stories read by three fabulous Drag Queens: Ruby Chopstix, Minokawa Song, and Artemyst!

This event is open to everyone, and the stories read will be suitable for children aged 3 to 5.
