SciFinder-n Upgrade

As part of our SciFinder annual renewal, the Library has upgraded Scifinder-n.

All users can access SciFinder-n in the Database list here: https://libguides.uwinnipeg.ca/az.php?a=s or at the URL below.

Frequently Asked Questions about the SciFinder-n Upgrade

When can students and staff access SciFinder-n?

As of January 1st, 2021, students and staff can access SciFinder-n using their same credentials, here: https://uwinnipeg.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://scifinder-n.cas.org

Does the old URL still work?

Yes, the original URL will still be operational for a period of time throughout the transition to SciFinder-n. The older version of SciFinder will remain in the Databases list through this transition.  

Do users need to create a new SciFinder-n account?

No, users will use the same credentials they used to log in to SciFinder.

How do new users register for SciFinder-n?

New users can register using the registration link that is already in the Database A-Z list (both SciFinder & SciFinder-n). This link has and will not change.

Do students and staff need to be on campus to register for SciFinder-n?

No - as part of the response to COVID-19, accounts can now be created from off-campus for the time being.

Can users migrate their alerts and save searches from SciFinder to SciFinder-n?

Yes, users can easily migrate both saved searches and alerts.

1.       Log in to SciFinder-n, using your SciFinder credentials: https://uwinnipeg.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://scifinder-n.cas.org

2.       Navigate to saved searches (Star icon) on the top right of the webpage (see image attached)

3.       Click ‘Migrate’ on the bottom left (see image attached)

4.       All saved searches and alerts in SciFinder will migrate to SciFinder-n.
