Web Archiving
In July 2013, the University of Winnipeg started to use the Internet Archive's Archive-It to support the curation of Web content developed by or of particular interest to the University of Winnipeg Community.
Digital Preservation
LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), based at Stanford University Libraries, is an international community initiative that provides libraries with digital preservation tools and support so that they can easily and inexpensively collect and preserve their own copies of authorized e-content. The ACM award-winning LOCKSS technology is an open source, peer-to-peer, decentralized digital preservation infrastructure. LOCKSS preserves all formats and genres of web-published content and provides many robust features that make it much more than a simple backup or mirror of content.
The University of Winnipeg is one of nine institutes participating in the Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPUL) Private LOCKSS Network (PLN). We are also a participant in the Synergies LOCKSS network.
