The library offers several spaces for individual and group study.
Check out our floor plans and sound zones to navigate the library.

Additional study spaces outside of the library are available nearby with extended hours.

Bookable Study Rooms

There are two locked rooms on opposite West (right) and East (left) sides of the library's 4th floor that can support groups of up to 8 people.
They can be booked online or in person at the Circulation Desk, for a max of 2 hours a day per person booking, as far as 30 days ahead of time.

You must present your UW student card when picking up a room key from Circulation.

If you are more than 15 minutes late to a booking, you risk forfeiting your spot and losing the room.
Please notify the library if you will be late or let us know to cancel your booking if you will not be showing up at all or no longer need the room.

NOTICE: Your UW email must be used to make your booking. If library staff notice a false email being used to make a booking, that booking will be canceled.

Also known as the Reading Room, Special Collections Room, or the Atrium, it is located on the library's 5th floor next to the main collaborative zone and the Archives. It is a quiet zone for whispers-only when not being used for an event.

This room houses our back-issued periodicals/journals collected and bound in hardcover, which can be signed out by patrons. Some of our Special Collections are found at the back.

Mezzanines

The library's 5th floor has five mezzanines - balconies that are accessed by blue spiral staircases.

These mezzanines are additional workspaces that match the noise level of their respective sound zones. There is one mezzanine in the collaborative zone, two in the quiet zone, and two in the silent zone. Each one is set up a little differently and all provide some level of fire safety and emergency exits.

The second mezzanine of the quiet zone, found in Room 5 on our floor plan, also houses the Centre for Rupert's Land Studies
